IKEA India to Open Second Bengaluru Store on November 5
Swedish furniture retailer IKEA India will open its second store in Bengaluru on November 5, 2026, at Purva Zentech on Kanakapura Main Road. Announced on October 29, the opening marks the company's continued expansion in the city and strengthens its presence in South Bengaluru.
The 80,000 sq. ft. store will feature more than 5,200 products, with over 3,000 available for immediate takeaway. Customers can order from IKEA's complete range of more than 7,000 products through the store, website, mobile app and Shop by Phone service. The outlet will also include a 100-seater restaurant serving Swedish favourites and local dishes.
IKEA's Expansion Journey in Bengaluru
IKEA entered Bengaluru through e-commerce in 2021 and opened its first physical store in the city in 2022. According to the company, Bengaluru now has more than 900,000 IKEA Family members.
Patrik Antoni, CEO of IKEA India, said that customer insights gathered over the past five years helped shape the new South Bengaluru store to better meet changing household needs.
The company is pursuing an omnichannel strategy that integrates physical stores, online shopping and customer services across its retail network.
IKEA India Targets 30 Stores by 2030
IKEA India plans to expand its network to 30 stores by 2030, prioritising locations near metro stations and other public transport hubs.
The company has opened eight stores since launching its first outlet in Hyderabad in 2018 and aims to add another 22 over the next four years.
Antoni previously told Hindustan Times Real Estate that public transport connectivity is a key consideration in store selection, supporting more sustainable travel for customers and employees.
Across India, IKEA reaches more than 300 million visitors through its online and offline channels and has a community of over three million IKEA Family members.
Why IKEA Chose Konanakunte Cross
Konanakunte Cross is an important location along Kanakapura Main Road, with access to the surrounding residential neighbourhoods and the Namma Metro network. The store's proximity to Konanakunte Cross Metro Station makes it accessible to customers travelling from different parts of Bengaluru without relying entirely on private vehicles. Its location within a growing residential corridor also positions the store to serve households seeking home furnishing products closer to where they live.
What IKEA's Expansion Means for Bengaluru's Commercial Real Estate Market
The opening of IKEA's second Bengaluru store adds to organised retail activity along Kanakapura Main Road and highlights the commercial potential of South Bengaluru's growing residential corridors. The store could attract additional consumer footfall, creating opportunities for nearby restaurants, convenience stores and other retail businesses. Its location near Konanakunte Cross Metro Station also demonstrates the importance of public transport connectivity in retail site selection.
IKEA's expansion plans reflect continued investment in physical retail alongside e-commerce. As large-format retailers seek accessible locations close to residential communities, demand for well-connected retail spaces and mixed-use developments could gain momentum across Bengaluru. The development also reinforces the role of metro infrastructure in supporting retail growth and shaping commercial property demand in emerging urban corridors.
