E-commerce and tech giant Amazon has just opened its second-largest office in Asia in Bengaluru, marking a major milestone in the company’s long-term growth plans in India. The sprawling corporate campus, designed to bring together thousands of employees, reflects Amazon’s confidence in the city as a hub for innovation, technology and skilled talent.
Spread across 1.1 million square feet on a five-acre site in North Bengaluru, the 12-storey building is set to become one of the city’s most significant office landmarks. Located about 15 kilometres from Kempegowda International Airport, the campus will house more than 7,000 employees working across different divisions including e-commerce, technology, payments, seller services and operations.
The new office was formally inaugurated on 23 February 2026 by Dr M. B. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development. In his remarks at the event, he pointed out that Amazon’s expanding footprint shows Bengaluru’s strength as a global business destination and its role in driving India’s digital economy.
“This new campus will create quality jobs and strengthen the local technology ecosystem,” Patil said, emphasising the importance of such investments for the state’s workforce and long-term growth.
A Major Indian Headquarters
The Bengaluru campus also becomes Amazon’s new India headquarters, moving activities from its old office location at the World Trade Center in West Bengaluru, a sign of how the company is consolidating and scaling up its operations in the country.
Samir Kumar, Country Manager of Amazon India, said the company views India as a key part of its global strategy. “Bengaluru has played a central role in Amazon’s journey here,” he said, noting that the city’s pool of talent and innovative spirit were crucial factors in choosing the location for the new headquarters.
Workspaces Designed for People
The campus isn’t just big, it’s designed with collaboration, flexibility and employee wellbeing in mind. Inside, the office features multiple types of work zones, including meeting rooms, informal “huddle” spaces, breakout areas, and large event spaces that can host over 200 people. There are also recreational facilities like sports courts, landscaped lawns and cafeterias serving diverse cuisines.
The design reflects modern workplace trends that emphasise teamwork and employee comfort, showing how major tech companies are rethinking office spaces after the shift to hybrid work models.
Part of a Bigger India Story
The Bengaluru launch is part of Amazon’s broader investment push in India. The company has already invested more than $40 billion in the country and recently pledged an additional $35 billion by 2030, a commitment that is expected to generate jobs and support millions of small businesses across India.
With this new campus, Amazon reinforces Bengaluru’s position not only as a commercial office destination but also as a global innovation hub. For the city’s real estate and job markets, this addition brings more momentum and highlights India’s role in the growth plans of global technology leaders.
